Balakrishna to Be Honoured at IFFI 2025 for Completing 50 Years in Cinema

The 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is gearing up for a grand celebration this year, as veteran Telugu actor and Padma Bhushan awardee Nandamuri Balakrishna will be honoured for completing 50 glorious years in Indian cinema. The felicitation ceremony will take place during IFFI 2025’s Opening Ceremony on November 20 in Goa, marking a proud moment for Telugu cinema and Balakrishna’s millions of admirers.

Organised by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, in collaboration with the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) and the Government of Goa, the festival aims to salute Balakrishna’s unmatched contribution to filmmaking. The event is expected to bring together leading filmmakers, global dignitaries, industry professionals, and cinema lovers to celebrate the star’s five-decade-long legacy.

Affectionately known as Balayya, Balakrishna has acted in over 100 films, showcasing versatility across historical dramas, action entertainers, mythological epics, and family dramas. His powerful dialogue delivery and iconic screen presence have earned him immense respect and a devoted fan base. He has also received major accolades, including the Padma Bhushan and multiple Nandi Awards.

Beyond cinema, Balakrishna continues to play a remarkable role in public service. As Chairman of the Basava Tarakam Cancer Hospital, he has contributed significantly to cancer care and treatment. Additionally, he has served as the MLA of Hindupur for three consecutive terms, gaining praise for his social welfare initiatives.

The IFFI Opening Ceremony will feature cultural performances, creative floats, and artistic showcases celebrating India’s storytelling heritage. Balakrishna’s felicitation is expected to be one of the most emotional highlights of the evening, symbolising his lasting impact on Indian cinema.
