Ban On International Flights Extended Till April 14
India has extended the current ban on international commercial airlines operating to India till 18.30 GMT on April 14. The government had earlier already banned flights from several high-risk nations, including those from the European Union, till March 31.
However, the restrictions would not apply to cargo flights or those specially permitted by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), according to the latest advisory by the civil aviation ministry.
The decision is likely to have a massive impact on carriers like IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet, GoAir and Vistara.
Trains, metros, inter-state buses and all public transport has been banned to check the spread of the disease, which has infected over 600 in India.
However, the current ban over domestic flights has only been till 31st March and it is reported that that might be extending as well.
According to an order issued by the Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions on Thursday, head of departments (HoDs) have been asked to ensure that 50% of Group B and C employees are required to attend office every day, and the remaining 50% staff should be instructed to work from home.
Coronavirus has infected over 600 people in India with over 16 total deaths reported in the country.
