Bollywood Actor Irrfan Khan Passes Away Battling Colon Infection

Indian National Award-winning actor and cancer warrior Irrfan Khan, whose films are a masterclass in splendid seamless acting, died in Mumbai after battling a medical complication arising from colon infection.
He was 53 and passed away today at a hospital in Mumbai, where he was admitted. The actor had been battling cancer since 2018 and his official spokesperson had confirmed on Tuesday that he was under doctor’s observation. Irrfan is survived by his wife Sutapa Sikdar and two sons Babil and Ayan. Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar penned a condolence note remembering the actor. Read as below:
“My dear friend Irfaan. You fought and fought and fought. I will always be proud of you.. we shall meet again.. condolences to Sutapa and Babil.. you too fought, Sutapa you gave everything possible in this fight. Peace and Om Shanti. Irfaan Khan salute.”
Irrfan Khan’s last movie was ‘Angrezi Medium’ that hit the screens days before the lockdown was announced. His innocent portrayal of a father willing to go against all odds for his daughter was much lauded by fans.
Best known for his performance in movies like ‘Maqbool’ and ‘Piku’, the actor earned a National Award for his powerful act in sports drama ‘Paan Singh Tomar’. Irrfan was also globally recognized for his performance in movies like 'Slumdog Millionaire', 'Inferno' and 'Life of Pi'.
