Bomb Threat on British Airways Flight BA277 Triggers Emergency at Hyderabad Airport
A bomb threat linked to British Airways flight BA277 from London created panic at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early Friday morning. The emergency alert was issued around 5 a.m., prompting airport authorities to activate full-scale security and evacuation protocols.
The aircraft, carrying 167 passengers including two infants, landed ahead of schedule at 5:30 a.m. It was immediately guided to an isolated bay to ensure maximum safety. Two pilots and eight cabin crew members were also on board at the time.
Bomb Disposal Squads, CISF units, airport police, and intelligence agencies rushed to the scene for a coordinated emergency response. All passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft and escorted to the terminal for verification and security screening.
Officials conducted extensive checks on the aircraft, luggage compartments, cargo hold, and passenger belongings. While the nature of the bomb threat remains under investigation, security has been tightened across the airport premises as a precaution.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the threat was genuine, a hoax, or linked to previous alerts issued internationally. Investigations are ongoing with the help of local police and central security agencies.
Airport operations remained stable, although some areas experienced temporary restrictions as part of security measures. Officials assured passengers that all steps were taken as per global aviation safety protocols.
