CM Naidu Vows to Transform Kuppam into a Model Constituency
Reiterating his commitment to the comprehensive development of the Kuppam Assembly constituency, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who recently secured his eighth consecutive victory in the elections, has pledged to make Kuppam a model constituency in India and a zero drought zone.
During a large gathering in Kuppam on Tuesday, the first day of his two-day visit, Naidu announced that Kuppam would soon have an airport to facilitate the export of agricultural and horticultural produce and provide air connectivity to major cities across the country.
In his over an hour-long speech, Naidu, who visited his home constituency for the first time after being sworn in, outlined various initiatives. He promised that Kuppam’s welfare and development were top priorities and announced the revival of the Kuppam Area Development Authority (KADA), which will now be led by an IAS officer.
“The soil in Kuppam is highly fertile and can support a wide variety of crops. Besides implementing drought-proofing measures, we will develop irrigation tanks to store about 1 TMC of water and build check dams on the Pala River to ensure water availability for irrigation and drinking purposes. Our approach will make Kuppam an agriculture and horticulture hub. Farmers are already profiting from cultivating tomatoes. We will promote agro-based industries, food processing units, and low-cost cold storage units. Kuppam is renowned for floriculture, and we will support farmer federations and link them to markets. The airport will be developed to handle bulk cargo, including chartered flights,” Naidu elaborated.
Naidu highlighted his earlier initiatives, such as encouraging dairy farming by providing two cows per household, resulting in Kuppam producing 3-4 lakh litres of milk daily. He announced plans to develop a 10-lakh litre milk production center, with the necessary infrastructure and cattle provided by the government. Poultry, sheep rearing, and honey production will also be promoted. “My goal is to teach people to become self-sufficient, not just provide temporary relief,” he explained.
Naidu promised improved connectivity for Kuppam with nearby cities like Krishnagiri, KGF, Chennai, and Bengaluru. He envisions Kuppam railway station becoming a junction. He recalled the single road from Palamaner to Kuppam in 1989 and the current two-lane road, which he plans to upgrade to a four-lane expressway for better access to Bengaluru.
To make Kuppam an educational hub, Naidu plans to establish more institutions alongside the existing engineering and medical colleges. He pledged to restore the Dravidian University to its former glory and enhance cellular connectivity and bandwidth in Kuppam.
Naidu also mentioned that the constituency, which currently comprises four mandals, would see the addition of Mallanuru and Rallabadugu as new mandal headquarters. He assured the development of temples and efforts to eliminate crime and corruption to ensure peace in Kuppam.
Concluding his speech, Naidu thanked the people for their overwhelming support, which led to a historic win for him and the TDP. He criticized the previous rule of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as autocratic and anarchic, praising the people for safeguarding democracy.
