Chanakya Review – Disappointing!

Gopichand who has seen a series of failures in recent times has come up with another film titled ‘Chanakya’. The teaser and trailer of the film have generated a good response. Today, the film has been released. Let’s see how it is!
Cast: Gopichand, Mehreen Pirzada, Zareen Khan
Director: Thiru
Chanakya Story:
The Indian government is in search of a dreadful terrorist named Qureshi (Rajesh Khattar) who stays in Pakistan. The government appoints sincere officer Arjun (Gopichand) to find and arrest him. How Gopichand will be successful in his tasks and how spy officer (Zareen Khan) helps him. What did Mehreen have to do in the film? All these questions will be answered on the screen.
Chanakya Review:
Gopichand as a spy performed very well. He carried the film on his shoulders alone. The action sequences by him are the highlight of the film. His dialogue delivery is also good. Zareen Khan as a spy did well. With the film, she made an interesting debut in Tollywood. Mehreen Kaur has nothing much to do in the film. Upen Patel did well as a villain.
To say, the film doesn’t require any romance but for the namesake, the director has roped in the actress and added a few romantic and love scenes which didn’t work out. The direction of Thiru is poor as he completed the story by inspiring from recent Hindi spy films, especially, Nikhil Advani’s D Day. The screenplay is bad. Director just added unnecessary comedy and silly scenes here and there, which has spoiled the flavor of a spy thriller. Gopichand roaming on roads of Karachi freely feels strange. The background music by Sricharan is good. Cinema work is also decent as the Pakistani terrorist setup is showcased well. Editing is bad as a lot of silly scenes should be chopped off.
What’s good?
- Gopichand and Zareen Khan
- BGM
- Cinema work
What’s Okay?
- Mehreen’s role
What’s Bad?
- Direction
- Narration
- Screenplay
- Story
- Editing
Verdict: Chanakya is a routine spy thriller that has nothing new to offer. Except for Gopichand’s performance, the film has nothing to entertain you!
