Chandrababu Naidu Condemns Attacks on TDP Candidates
TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu has strongly condemned the attacks on TDP candidates by YSRC activists in the Chandragiri, Macherla, and Tadipatri Assembly constituencies. Naidu, currently in Varanasi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, called on DGP Harish Gupta to address the violence. He accused YSRC MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy of orchestrating the attacks and urged additional police deployment to maintain law and order.
Naidu took to social media platform X to denounce the attacks, describing YSRC leaders as cowards fearful of election defeat. He reported that 150 armed men attacked a TDP candidate in Tirupati after visiting an EVM storage site at Sri Padmavati Women’s University.
TDP state president K Atchannaidu and politburo member Varla Ramaiah also condemned the violence. Ramaiah appealed to the Election Commission to deploy central forces and arrest those responsible for the attacks.
In contrast, Home Minister Taneti Vanitha accused TDP activists of attacking YSRC supporters, including women and marginalized communities, for not voting for TDP. She criticized the police observer appointed by the ECI for acting unilaterally and blamed ECI-directed police transfers for the unrest. She called for action against TDP activists responsible for the violence.
