Chandrababu Naidu Urges Governor to Secure Government Records Amid e-Office Upgrade
On May 16, TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu addressed a letter to Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, urging immediate action to protect all government files and records from May 30, 2019, to date. Naidu requested the Governor to instruct the Chief Secretary to implement security measures, including the installation of CCTV cameras, at the Secretariat and the offices of Heads of Departments. This request coincides with the planned upgrade of the government's e-Office application, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, which will render the application unavailable from May 17 to 25.
Naidu expressed concerns about the potential for important files and documents to be deleted or tampered with during this period, potentially favoring YSRCP leaders and contractors. He highlighted that the Government of Andhra Pradesh had not been posting all Government Orders (G.O.s) on the website, which he claimed undermined transparency and allowed for irregularities to go unchecked.
Additionally, Naidu cited reports of crucial records being destroyed or relocated from government offices. The TDP had recently lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer regarding the destruction of CB-CID records related to a significant criminal case and was awaiting a response.
In light of these issues, Naidu stressed the necessity of securing all files, note files, records, and documents to prevent potential misuse during the e-Office application upgrade.
