Chandrababu Naidu to Discuss Alliance with BJP in New Delhi
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu is set to meet senior BJP leaders in New Delhi, aiming to finalize a seat-sharing deal for the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh. The visit underscores the TDP's efforts to strengthen its alliance with the BJP for a decisive victory. However, despite previous discussions, details of the alliance remain undecided; particularly regarding the number of seats the BJP will contest in a state where its presence is limited.
Meanwhile, the Jana Sena Party, led by actor Pawan Kalyan, has already aligned with the TDP and is urging the BJP to follow suit. With 25 Lok Sabha and 175 assembly seats in play in Andhra Pradesh, the BJP seeks to contest 8 to 10 parliamentary constituencies. However, the TDP is cautious, fearing that allocating too many seats to the BJP could benefit the ruling YSR Congress.
While Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy maintains a positive relationship with senior BJP leaders, state BJP members advocate for an alliance with the TDP, citing concerns over the Reddy government's agenda conflicting with their party's interests. As discussions unfold, the political landscape in Andhra Pradesh remains dynamic and pivotal.
