Congress Legislature Party Merges with TRS Legislature
The chairman of Telangana State Legislative Council K Swamy Goud on Friday approved the merger of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Legislature Party in the Telangana Legislative Council.
Four Congress MLCs – MS Prabhakar Rao, Damodar Reddy, Akula Lalitha and T Santosh Kumar have submitted a petition to the Council Chairman seeking for a merger. The Congress MLCs stated that they had held a meeting of the CLP and decided to merge it with the TRS Legislature Party.
The Council Chairman made the decision within hours after the petition was made. In a bulletin released to all the Council members, State Legislature Secretary Dr V Narasimha Charyulu stated that the Chairman of the Legislative Council has recognized the merger of Congress Legislature Party with the TRS Legislature Party in the Telangana Legislative Council under paragraph 4 of the tenth schedule of the Constitution of India.
The bulletin added that from now on all four Congress MLCs are treated as the members of the TRS Legislature Party and are allotted seats in the house accordingly.
