Controversy Surrounds Rushikonda Resorts Inauguration: TDP and JSP Question Government's Actions
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and its ally, the Jana Sena Party (JSP), have criticized the government for inaugurating tourism resorts at Rushikonda despite pending legal cases in the A.P. High Court. They raised concerns about the lack of media coverage and transparency surrounding the event.
Senior TDP leader Palla Srinivasa Rao highlighted the ambiguity regarding the utilization of the ₹450-crore project, questioning whether it would serve as a tourism resort or the Chief Minister's camp office. Conflicting statements from government officials added to the confusion.
The opposition alleged that the new resorts replaced the lucrative APTDC resorts, accusing the government of disregarding regulations and converting the area into a restricted zone. They emphasized public dissatisfaction and readiness to vote out the ruling YSRCP in the upcoming elections.
JSP cooperator P.L.V.N. Murthy criticized the Tourism Minister for inaugurating the buildings amid legal disputes and criticized the lack of response from the AP Tourism Development Corporation. Additionally, he raised pertinent questions about the rationale behind excluding the media from an event ostensibly related to tourism, urging the government to uphold principles of openness and accountability in its actions.
