Curry Express Owners Confronted With Racist Social Media Post
Curry Express in Belgrade is the first and one of the two ethnic Indian food eateries in Gallatin County. The owners Raj and Priyanka Singh became the victims of an online racist tirade.
The owner Raj Singh stated that it was something he never expected to see in his life. He and his wife, Priyanka, are both immigrants and this was the first time in their five years as restaurateurs in Montana that they were racially accosted directly.
After posting an ad for their buffet at Curry Express, a Facebook user, Richard Suttles commented about their race and insulted them. The community is now denouncing the man’s words and encouraging others to eat at Curry Express in a show of solidarity.
Singh said that “Racism is for people who have no understanding. We are all created in the same way. Separating someone because of their skin color is wrong.” He is concerned that, if it happened to them it can happen to anyone.
The Singhs now hope others aren’t targeted, and they say they’d like to thank the community for their support.
