Do not use ‘Sabarimala' as publicity in the election campaign! – EC warns parties in Kerala
The Election Commission (EC) on Monday warned that any party should not use publicity on the situation of Sabarimala temple in Kerala. State Chief Electoral Officer, Teeka Ram Meena, said, "This will certainly come under violation of the Election Code of Conduct." He spoke to reporters in Thiruvananthapuram.
The Sabarimala temple, evoking religious concepts in the name of God; Referring to the Supreme Court judgment; asking for votes in the name of religion is considered as an offence in the election campaign.
Sabarimala is a contentious issue in Kerala and political parties need to have a definitive guide to this issue.
