EC bans Namo TV and Modi's biopic

The election commission had earlier banned the release of ' Prime Minister Narendra Modi ' until the Lok Sabha elections are done. EC now has further also banned Namo TV, the 24-hour channel promoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The order given by Election commission states that , ' Any poster or publicity material concerning any such certified content, which either depicts a candidate (including perspective) for the furtherance (or purported to further) of electoral prospect, directly or indirectly, shall not be put to display in electronic media in the area where MCC (Model Code of Conduct) is in operation'.

This order comes amidst a lot of controversy on the Namo TV and opposition opposing it in full force and asking how its operation is compatible with both India’s broadcasting and election-related laws.
