Election Commission Files FIR Against the Hacker Who Claims EVM Can Be Tampered

A day after a hacker from London who had claimed that the Electronic Voting machines used in Indian elections can be tampered, the Election Commission has written to the Delhi Police, asking that a case is lodged against a London-based hacker Syed Shuja.

Soon after the hackers press conference Election commission had rejected his claims and had said that strong legal action will be taken against him.

In the letter addressed to Delhi police, it was mentioned that the hacker had broken the rules of "public mischief" and an investigation was requested against him.

Dr Rajat Moona, the top technical expert with the Commission, had mentioned that EVMs are "stand-alone machines which have absolutely no capability of transmitting or receiving any data through any wireless communication of any sort", which is why they are "tamper proof". However, the recent claims by the hacker had created a lot of controversies although the claims he made had no proof.
