FIR Filled As Aadhaar Data of 7.8 Crore With IT Firm
The cyber police from Hyderabad filed an FIR on the complaint of UIDAI, that information technology firm IT Grids India was in possession of Aadhaar data of over 7.8 crore resident of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The population of the two states is about 8.4 crore.
The company was using the data to develop TDP’s Seva Mitra app, this data was in a removable storage device which is a violation of the Aadhaar act. The forensic expert has a suspicion that the firm may have illegally obtained the data from state data hub or central data repository.
TDP shared that they did not have the access to raw Aadhaar and that it was only being used for verifying beneficiaries of welfare scheme.
However, on further examination, it was discovered that the records of Aadhaar data were found and used by IT for the purpose of TDP’s Seva Mita Application app.
