Former Minister T Harish Rao Predicts Grim Future for Congress in Upcoming Elections
Former Minister T Harish Rao delivered a scathing assessment of the Congress party's prospects in India, asserting that it had no future. He pointed to the departure of key allies from the party as evidence of its decline, with allies predicting that the Congress would not secure more than 40 out of 543 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Even Mamata Banerjee, who previously aligned with the INDIA bloc, now doubted the Congress's chances, according to Rao.
Rao highlighted the departure of Nitish Kumar and the Left in Kerala from the INDIA bloc as further signs of trouble for the Congress. He accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of backtracking on election promises, stating that Reddy was conditional on fulfilling pledges only if Congress won all 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana, an unlikely outcome.
Emphasizing the role of the BRS (Telangana Rashtra Samithi) as the voice of Telangana in national politics, Rao urged BRS workers to expose the Congress government's failures and educate the public on how the BRS protected Telangana's interests.
He contrasted the BRS's refusal to yield to pressure from the Centre regarding the Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar projects with the Congress's quick capitulation to such pressure, underlining the BRS's commitment to safeguarding Telangana's interests.
