Former YSRCP MP Balashowry Joins Jana Sena Party Ahead of Elections
Balashowry, a former two-time MP representing Machilipatnam, made headlines in January when he resigned from the ruling YSR Congress Party and shifted allegiance to the Jana Sena Party. His decision stemmed from indications from party president and Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy that he would not receive the party ticket for the upcoming elections. Strained relations with MLAs Simhadri Ramesh and Perni Venkatramaiah, also known as Nani, further influenced his move.
Having initially joined the YSRCP in 2019 and subsequently elected from Machilipatnam, Balashowry's political journey also includes a successful stint as an MP from the Tenali Lok Sabha constituency in 2004, representing the Congress party.
With this shift, the Jana Sena Party has finalized candidates for both Lok Sabha seats it is contesting in partnership with the TDP and BJP. Pawan Kalyan, the party leader, had earlier announced Tangella Uday Srinivas as the candidate for the Kakinada Lok Sabha seat.
In addition to the parliamentary seats, the Jana Sena has announced contenders for 19 out of the 21 Assembly seats allocated to it under the tripartite alliance. Notably, Pawan Kalyan himself will be contesting from the Pithapuram Assembly constituency. However, candidates for the Avanigadda and Palakonda Assembly seats are yet to be revealed, with a survey underway in Avanigadda to determine the most suitable candidate.
