Good news from USCIS!

USCIS has some good news for certain immigrants, including those from India! They've decided to extend the validity of work permits, known as Employment Authorization Documents (EADs), for a longer period. Instead of just 180 days, now it's going to be extended to 540 days.
This extension applies to two groups of people: first, those who applied for Form I-765 on or after October 27, 2023, and are still waiting for a decision as of April 8, 2024. Second, those who will apply for Form I-765 between April 8, 2024, and September 30, 2025. This is really helpful because it prevents them from losing their jobs due to an expiring work permit, especially for those whose permits would have expired by April 24, 2024.
Ur M. Jaddou, the Director of USCIS, explained that they made this change because they've been receiving a lot of applications for work permits, which caused delays. By extending the validity period, they're giving immigrants more time to keep working legally while USCIS processes their applications.
Jaddou also mentioned that this extension will help them find better solutions in the long run. USCIS wants to make sure that immigrants who are eligible to work can continue to do so without any interruptions.
Additionally, USCIS has been working hard to manage immigration at the Southwest Border. They've removed or returned over 617,000 individuals since May 12, 2023, with most of them coming from families. Their goal is to ensure that the immigration process is fair and efficient for all parties.
