Government Panel Submits Confidential Report on IndiGo Flight Disruptions

A government-appointed committee investigating recent operational disruptions at IndiGo has submitted its findings to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the Ministry of Civil Aviation confirmed on Friday. The report follows weeks of widespread flight delays and cancellations that caused significant inconvenience to passengers across major Indian airports.

The eight-member panel was constituted earlier this month amid mounting concerns over IndiGo’s operational reliability. Headed by Joint Director General of Civil Aviation Sanjay K. Bramhane, the committee was tasked with examining possible lapses in crew management, scheduling practices, regulatory compliance, and overall operational preparedness at the country’s largest airline.

Officials said the report was submitted on Friday evening and has been marked confidential, with its contents not being disclosed publicly at this stage. The findings are expected to play a crucial role in determining the DGCA’s next steps, including whether corrective measures, penalties, or stricter oversight will be imposed on the airline.

IndiGo has been under heightened regulatory scrutiny in recent weeks, particularly after new duty-time regulations for pilots and internal roster challenges reportedly contributed to disruptions. Thousands of passengers were affected, triggering complaints and calls for stronger accountability.

In response, IndiGo has maintained that it is actively working to stabilise operations, improve crew planning, and minimise inconvenience to travellers. The airline has also stated that it remains in close coordination with aviation authorities.

The DGCA is now expected to thoroughly examine the committee’s recommendations before announcing any enforcement action. The outcome could shape regulatory oversight and operational standards for airlines across India’s fast-growing aviation sector.
