Hyderabad Residents Complain of Power Cuts on Telangana Formation Day
Residents across Hyderabad expressed frustration over frequent power outages and electricity-related issues on Telangana Formation Day. Many consumers took to social media to complain about disruptions, voltage fluctuations, delayed repairs, and poor customer service from electricity authorities.
Several areas, including Manikonda, Tolichowki, Secunderabad, Ashok Nagar, and Dammaiguda, reported recurring power cuts throughout the day. Residents said outages occurred repeatedly without prior notice, causing inconvenience during the summer season.
One resident from Manikonda questioned why power cuts were occurring on a day meant to celebrate Telangana’s progress. Others reported technical problems such as phase failures and extended blackouts lasting several hours. Complaints also included delayed responses from local electricity officials and difficulties reaching customer care services.
Apart from supply disruptions, some consumers raised concerns over what they described as unusually high electricity bills. A resident from Dammaiguda reported receiving a bill exceeding ₹6,000 for two months of usage. Others complained about delays in obtaining new power connections.
Many citizens criticized the performance of the electricity department, arguing that service quality had deteriorated. Some compared the situation to earlier years when power shortages were more common. Residents urged authorities to improve infrastructure, customer support, and communication to ensure a more reliable electricity supply across the city.
