Hyderabad: YS Sharmila Arrested Over Protest March, Gets Bail

On November 29, Sharmila was arrested by the police for protesting the alleged attack on her convoy by the ruling TRS cadre during her ongoing padayatra.
During the march, she was seen getting inside a damaged vehicle and driving it, but was stopped by police.
As she was seated in the vehicle, the police used a crane to tow away the vehicle after she refused to step out.
Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan expressed anguish at how Sharmila was arrested and was concerned about her safety and health, a release from Raj Bhavan said on Tuesday night.
According to Tamilisai, women leaders and cadres, regardless of their political background or ideology, should be treated more dignified and respectfully.
As part of a state-wide padayatra conducted by Sharmila in Warangal district on Monday, the YSRT party chief and her supporters marched towards Rao's camp office to lay siege to it, but were stopped by police along the way.
Sharmila was taken into custody and taken to a police station, where a case was filed against them.
Police accused Sharmila of driving her vehicle rashly and negligently, ‘abusing’ cops and deterring them from discharging their duty.
A large crowd of ruling party activists gathered to protest Sharmila's comments against the TRS MLA from Narsampet. Police dispersed TRS workers and YSR Telangana Party members to prevent a law and order situation.
Sharmila undertook the 3,500-kilometer foot march, which has covered 75 Assembly segments in Telangana.
