Hyderabad's first IPL match in three years draws cricket fans to Uppal stadium.
Even though temperatures were soaring, cricket fans flocked to Uppal's Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.
Cricket fans flocked to the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal on a scorching Sunday to see the first Indian Premier League (IPL) match in the city in three years, which featured hosts Sunrisers Hyderabad taking on Rajasthan Royals.
Fans began lining up in the sweltering heat at 1 p.m. The city crowd missed the IPL, as evidenced by the long lines at the Uppal stadium's gates, even though the Metros were at capacity. Due to the spread of the Covid-19 virus, it has been three years since the last IPL match was played in Hyderabad.
There was a roar of approval from the crowd when the first ball was tossed. The stadium was awash in orange, giving it a cheery, celebratory vibe. When the game started, there were approximately 29,845 fans in the stadium; by the end of the first inning, that number had grown to its maximum capacity of 37,731.
The Rajasthan Royals' innings ended up being the ideal setting, much to the delight of the spectators. Over 200 runs were scored in the opening innings thanks to the excellent pitch on offer.
However, when the home team's bowlers were successful, the loudest cheers came from the Orange Army, Sunrisers Hyderabad's devoted fan base.
After a long wait, I finally saw my favourite team play in person, which was awesome. It was sorely missed. Anand, an IT worker, expressed his excitement about attending a game despite his disappointment that his favourite player, David Warner, was not included in the team.
The Sunrisers were never in the chase, losing wickets at regular intervals, and fans began leaving the stadium long before the game ended.
