Increase In H-1B And L-1 Visa Grace Periods!

The Biden administration has been encouraged by the Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS) to extend the H-1B and L1/5 grace periods in light of recent computer industry layoffs that have left thousands of Indian-American IT experts without employment. H-1B and other work visas for talented foreign employees are frequently given to Indian IT experts, and many of them are rushing to find new positions before the deadline under their work visas once their employment ends in order to remain in the US.
For computer professionals, January 2023 has been a terrible month due to widespread layoffs in the sector. Many people with skill lost their jobs. Indian immigrants are most affected since they dominate the tech sector.
According to the Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies, those who have been let off from their H-1B status must find a job sponsoring H-1Bs within 60 days or depart within 10 days of losing their status.
The US-based nonprofit group has urged the Biden administration to increase the 10-day grace period from two days to at least two months and the two-month grace period from two months to at least six months.
