India Slams Pakistan at UN, Reaffirms Jammu & Kashmir as Integral Part of the Nation

India delivered a powerful rebuttal against Pakistan at the United Nations, calling it the “fountainhead of terror, violence, bigotry, intolerance and extremism.” Speaking at the UN General Assembly’s Fourth Committee, which addresses decolonisation issues, N.K. Premachandran, MP from Kerala, firmly rejected Pakistan’s false claims on Jammu and Kashmir and accused it of committing grave human rights violations in the region it has illegally occupied since 1947.
Premachandran highlighted that Pakistan-trained terrorists continue to wreak havoc in Indian territory, citing a recent attack in April where 26 innocent civilians were killed in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. He condemned Pakistan’s ongoing use of terrorism as an instrument of state policy, calling it ironic that a nation with a record of military dictatorships, sham elections, religious extremism and repression tries to lecture the world’s largest democracy.
India urged Pakistan to immediately end its brutal crackdown on the people living in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), where citizens are openly revolting against military occupation and exploitation of local resources. He pointed out that in recent weeks alone, over 12 civilians were killed by Pakistani forces for protesting exploitation and demanding basic rights.
India reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir “is, and will always remain, an integral and inalienable part of India,” dismissing Pakistan’s attempts to internationalise the issue. Premachandran said Pakistan’s remarks at the committee were irrelevant to the agenda and served only to spread misinformation.
He also showcased India’s historic leadership in the global fight against colonialism, noting that India was the first chair of the UN Decolonisation Committee and has consistently supported the independence of former colonies. While over 80 nations have gained freedom since the UN’s inception, he emphasized that the decolonisation process remains unfinished, with 17 territories still awaiting liberation.
Through this strong statement, India reaffirmed its sovereignty and called for accountability from Pakistan on terrorism and human rights violations.
