India rejects Canadian Prime Minister's allegations of Indian involvement in Canadian violence.
India described as "absurd" and "motivated" Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's allegation that New Delhi was implicated in any act of violence in Canada, which was made on Tuesday in New Delhi.
Canada expelled a senior Indian diplomat, with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleging that the Indian government may have had ties to the assassination of a Sikh leader in that nation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "Allegations of Government of India involvement in any act of violence in Canada are absurd and motivated."
"Similar allegations were made by the Canadian Prime Minister to our Prime Minister, and were completely rejected," it said.
The MEA stated, "We are a democratic state with a strong commitment to the rule of law."
It stated that such "unsubstantiated" allegations are an attempt to divert attention away from Khalistani terrorists and extremists, who have "found refuge in Canada and continue to threaten India's territorial integrity"
"The Canadian government's inaction on this issue has been a concern for a long time," it stated.
