In a blog post on Wednesday, the company said that the new feature will help the platform show users more of what they like.
In the blog post, the company also described how ranking works across the site to help users get the most out of their experience and to help artists understand how their content might be shown.
"We use many different methods, models, and processes, each with a different goal. We want to make the most of people's time, and we think the best way to do that is to use technology to make everyone's experience unique," it said.
Every part of the app, like Feed, Stories, Explore, Reels, Search, and more, uses its formula to improve the user experience. The firm has said that "we want people and creators to be in control of their Instagram experience" and that "we are always exploring ways to add even more transparency and control to the app."
Elon Musk runs Twitter, but Instagram is making a similar micro-blogging text app that should be out by the end of this month.
