Interpol Arrests Arjun Sharma in Tamil Nadu for Murder of Telugu Woman in the US
The international manhunt for the accused in the murder of a Telugu woman in the United States has ended with Interpol police arresting Arjun Sharma in Tamil Nadu, sources revealed. Sharma is accused of murdering 27-year-old Nikita Godishala in the US before fleeing to India, triggering an investigation with global implications.
According to sources, Interpol coordinated closely with US law enforcement agencies to track Sharma’s movements, ultimately leading to his arrest in Tamil Nadu. The case initially began as a missing person complaint before taking a grim turn.
Nikita Godishala, who lived in Columbia, Maryland, was reported missing on December 31 by Sharma himself. He informed the police that he had last seen her in Ellicott City. However, investigators grew suspicious when Sharma left the United States for India shortly after filing the complaint.
US police later obtained a search warrant for Sharma’s apartment, where they discovered Nikita’s body bearing multiple stab wounds, confirming that she had been brutally murdered. Authorities believe Sharma killed her and fled the country in an attempt to evade arrest.
As the case drew widespread attention, the Indian Embassy in the United States confirmed it was in touch with Nikita’s family and was extending all possible consular assistance. The embassy also said it was closely following developments with local authorities.
Meanwhile, officials issued a clarification addressing misinformation on social media, stating that an image circulating online in connection with the case does not depict the accused.
