Israel: Following rocket fire from Gaza, the IDF proclaims "readiness for war."

Following a major rocket fire from the Gaza Strip and the entry of Hamas terrorists into Israel, the Israel Defence Forces proclaimed a state of preparedness for war on Saturday, according to The Times of Israel (TOI).
The army released a statement saying, "The IDF declares a state of readiness for war."
Terrorists have penetrated Israeli territory via a number of entrance sites, and there has been extensive rocket firing into Israeli territory from Gaza. The IDF said in its statement that citizens in the south and centre of the nation must live near to protected zones, while those in the Gaza perimeter must stay inside of enclosed areas.
The Israel Defence Forces said that they were conducting counterattacks in the Gaza Strip in the meanwhile. According to the Israeli newspaper, the attacks occur over two hours after Hamas carried off a surprise assault.
The IDF noted in its report that Lt Gen Herzi Halevi, the Chief of Staff, is conducting an evaluation and endorsing action measures.
The IDF said, "Hamas, the group responsible for this attack, will bear the consequences and responsibility for the events."
The Jerusalem Post said that a flurry of missiles struck southern and central Israel on Saturday morning, causing sirens to sound at around 8:15 a.m. (local time) in Jerusalem.
A lady in her 60s was killed after at least one missile struck a building in the Gederot Regional Council directly, according to Magen David Adom.
Magen David Adom (MDA) said that as of Saturday morning at 8 a.m. (local time), it has treated 16 patients nationwide, including two critically ill patients, six individuals in moderate condition, and seven people with minor injuries.
For more than two hours, rockets have been fired continuously into Israel. The barrages have resulted in several injuries and one woman's death.
A 52-year-old guy from Gederot who was substantially hurt and a 20-year-old male from Yavne who was also slightly damaged were among the injured in addition to the lady who passed away from her wounds. The injured were sent to Kaplan Hospital, the Jerusalem Post said.
Hospitals also started to report the injured: according to Asaf Harofeh, they treated six patients, two of them had catastrophic injuries, one had a moderate injury, and three had minor ones.
Following Hamas' unexpected strike on Israel, Defence Minister Yoav Gallant authorised a widespread call-up of reservists.
