Jagan Mohan Files a Complaint Against State Election Commissioner

Standing alone out of the crowd, Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday expressed his dissatisfaction over the postpone of local body elections by the election commission and following it booked a complaint against the state election commissioner.
State Election Commissioner (SEC) N. Ramesh Kumar postponed the local body polls by six weeks in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. The decision created ripples in the state politics and raised several questions whether it was a necessity of state or just a political drama.
However, Jagan Mohan wants the elections to be held as per the schedule and fixed a meeting with Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan and complained to him against the unilateral action of the official. He also asked him to file a complaint against the election commission. YRSCP claims of winning 2000 of the total 9600 posts unanimously.
Jagan also alleged that SEC took such an important decision without consulting either the chief secretary or the health secretary. He called it ‘unilateral’, ‘irrational’ and ‘irresponsible’. Chief Minister said coronavirus was only an excuse to postpone the elections.
Local body elections which were supposed to be held from 21 March to 29 March have been now shifted to six weeks later as per the election commission of the state.
