KCR Rejects CAA, NRC!

Breaking his silence on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Telangana CM K. Chandrashekhar Rao declared that the state Assembly will pass a resolution against the Act on Saturday. He also said that he is ready to lead a nationwide campaign against CAA.

He said that CAA is 100% wrong and appealed to the Supreme Court to strike it down. Addressing to media, he also confirmed that he would soon hold a meeting of chief ministers and like-minded political parties against CAA and NRC in Hyderabad.

To this, he also added that he has already spoken to several CMs and if necessary, he would hold anti-CAA and anti-NRC meetings with 10 lakh people. KCR said that the Indian Constitution has given equal rights to citizens, irrespective of their religion, caste, and region.

He also said that the CAA and National Register of Citizens (NRC) are the biggest blunders of the BJP government and urged the Prime Minister to recall the Act. He said that the country is facing criticism across the world on CAA and NRC. The TRS president said TRS was opposed to such decisions and that's the reason it voted against the Bill in Parliament.

He mentioned that "Excluding one community, Muslims, in the name of CAA, pained me a lot. There is no question of TRS compromising on the secularism of India. India cannot be converted into a Hindu nation and we are in a secular country, this country belongs to all the people and we should continue to be secular." He lashed out at the Centre to concentrate on the crucial issues such as economic slowdown, unemployment, and development.
