KT Rama Rao's Lighthearted Tweet Backfires as Congress Sweeps Telangana Elections
KT Rama Rao (KTR), son of outgoing Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and a prominent leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), found himself in an unexpected turn of events after the Telangana state elections.
Less than 24 hours before the election results, KTR had posted a confident picture of himself aiming with a gun, captioned: "Hattrick Loading 3.0. Get ready to celebrate guys." However, as the early trends rolled in, the Congress took the lead in most constituencies, stunning the BRS. The Congress humorously reposted KTR's tweet, quipping, "Were you aiming for car tires?" Interestingly, the BRS symbol is a car.
As the Congress consolidated its position during the day, KTR responded to his own tweet, admitting, "This one ain't gonna age well. Missed the mark."
Ultimately, the Congress achieved a comfortable lead in the state, marking the end of K Chandrashekar Rao's dream run. Rao himself is trailing in one of the two seats he contested. This shift in fortunes has been partly attributed to corruption allegations against him and senior party leaders. Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's revelation that Rao had sought to join the NDA but was rejected may have influenced the outcome.
The Congress, buoyed by its significant victory in Karnataka, is leading in 64 of the 119 seats, surpassing the majority mark, while the BRS is leading in 40 seats.
