KTR Slams Congress Over RRR Realignment, Urges Farmers to Boycott Polls

BRS working president KT Rama Rao has launched a scathing attack on the Congress government over its decision to alter the alignment of the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR), alleging that the move betrays farmers and favors vested interests. Addressing villagers from Nalgonda, Suryapet, Gajwel, and Sangareddy constituencies at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, KTR accused the government of ignoring its election promises and pushing farmers into hardship.
According to KTR, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi had assured during the campaign that the RRR alignment would not hurt farmers. However, he claimed the Congress has now reversed its stand, causing widespread distress. “Farmers trusted the Congress and voted them to power. Today, that trust is being betrayed,” KTR said, alleging that the ruling party is prioritizing commissions and “money bags” for Delhi bosses over local welfare.
KTR urged affected villages to pass resolutions, boycott local body elections, and collectively protest until the alignment is corrected. He assured that Telangana Bhavan would serve as a “Janata Garage” for farmers to seek legal and political assistance. He also compared the Congress’s approach with the previous BRS regime, which he said ensured fair rehabilitation and direct dialogue during land acquisitions for major projects like the Outer Ring Road.
The BRS leader further said that though Union Minister G Kishan Reddy had written to the Centre regarding the realignment, the central government has yet to respond. He vowed that BRS MPs would raise the issue in Parliament and corner the Congress in the Assembly.
KTR concluded by recalling that under K Chandrashekhar Rao’s leadership, Nalgonda overcame its fluorosis crisis through Mission Bhagiratha and irrigation projects. He warned that the Congress is undoing that progress by betraying the very farmers who once placed their hopes in them.
