KTR and Harish Rao Celebrate Diwali with Demolition Victims, Slam Congress Over Hyderabad Evictions

In a powerful show of solidarity, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders KT Rama Rao and T Harish Rao celebrated Diwali with families displaced by recent HYDRAA demolitions in Hyderabad, sharply criticising the Congress government for its “failure to protect the poor and deliver development.” The leaders joined victims from the Musi Riverfront project and Sunnam Cheruvu in Kukatpally, distributing sweets, fruits, and crackers while assuring them of continued support.
BRS working president KT Rama Rao accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s government of causing “pain and despair” by demolishing homes of the poor, often without notice. “Even those with valid documents were evicted. Their homes were razed and their hopes shattered,” he said. Rama Rao demanded that the Congress government immediately allocate around 40,000 houses built under the previous BRS administration to the HYDRAA victims. “If they fail, the BRS will ensure justice when we return to power,” he declared.
He further accused the Congress of neglecting welfare initiatives such as free water supply and failing to build new houses or infrastructure. “Not a single brick has been laid since Congress came to power. This government will meet its end at the hands of the poor it has wronged,” he said.
Meanwhile, former Minister Harish Rao joined displaced families in Hydershahkote, Rajendranagar, where he condemned the government for turning “a festival of light into one of despair.” Calling Revanth Reddy a “demon ruling Telangana,” Harish Rao urged voters to defeat the Congress in the upcoming Jubilee Hills bypolls.
He accused the state of favouring industrialists while targeting poor families in demolitions. “Why are only the poor being targeted, while Congress leaders’ illegal constructions remain untouched?” he questioned.
The BRS leaders pledged to fight until justice and housing relief are ensured for all affected families.
