Kangana Ranaut Playfully Encourages Girija Oak to Use Viral Fame for Film Promotion
Actor and politician Kangana Ranaut shared a humorous moment with her Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata co-star Girija Oak during a promotional interview for their upcoming film.
The conversation centred around Girija’s unexpected rise in social media popularity following a viral podcast clip from last year. The video, which featured the actor wearing a blue saree, attracted widespread attention online and earned her nicknames such as “Blue Saree Girl” and “National Crush.”
When the topic came up, Kangana admitted she had heard about the viral phenomenon and jokingly asked about the now-famous blue saree. Girija, however, downplayed the attention and expressed discomfort with receiving credit solely for her appearance.
She explained that the clip gained popularity without any specific effort on her part and argued that physical appearance is largely determined by genetics rather than personal achievement. According to Girija, she does not view the attention as something she earned through hard work.
Responding with humour, Kangana encouraged her co-star to use the newfound popularity to support the film’s promotions. “Please use your beauty to promote the film,” she joked, drawing laughter during the interview.
The interviewer suggested that Girija was being overly modest, noting that many people genuinely admired her. However, the actor remained unconvinced by the “National Crush” title. She pointed out that unlike recognised national achievements, there is no official validation or certification for such labels.
Girija contrasted her situation with Kangana’s accomplishments, saying that Kangana’s national recognition stems from years of professional achievement, while her own viral fame resulted from an unpredictable internet trend.
Their light-hearted exchange has been widely appreciated by audiences online. The two actors will soon be seen together in Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, directed by Manoj Tapadia, which is scheduled for release on June 12.
