Kejriwal Accuses PM Modi of Targeting AAP, Leads Protest March to BJP HQ
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders announced a march to the BJP headquarters today. Kejriwal accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of targeting AAP in what he termed "Operation Jhaadu"—a campaign to undermine the party. He claimed that the operation included arresting prominent AAP leaders, seizing party bank accounts, and shutting down their offices.
Kejriwal asserted that the BJP perceives AAP as a threat due to its growing influence and achievements, prompting the crackdown. "The PM has made up his mind to crush the Aam Aadmi Party," he stated, referencing recent arrests, including that of his aide Bibhav Kumar and alleged plans to arrest more AAP leaders.
Despite the Delhi Police's statement that AAP had not requested permission for the march and would not be allowed to protest outside the BJP premises, Kejriwal and his top leaders proceeded towards the BJP headquarters. The police issued a traffic advisory urging commuters to avoid DDU Marg, IP Marg, Minto Road, and Vikas Marg.
Kejriwal, who the Supreme Court has granted interim bail until June 1 in connection with a money laundering case, criticized PM Modi's alleged attempts to discredit AAP by accusing him of being a "Khalistani politician." He challenged the BJP's claims of a liquor policy scam, questioning the lack of recovered funds.
Kejriwal highlighted AAP's governance achievements: "We have worked on schools and clinicscs and provided free electricity and water. BJP cannot match our honesty and efficiency."
