Kejriwal: "We have to take a page from Telangana's Kanti Velugu"
Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal praised Telangana's social welfare initiatives, emphasizing the importance of States learning from one another and moving forward in tandem. His view was that putting aside politics would lead to more effective leadership.
On Wednesday, Kejriwal held a press conference at the Delhi Assembly and reflected on his trip to Telangana at the request of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to observe the execution of the 'Kanti Velugu' project in the State. We recently visited Telangana, India, where the entire State's population of 4 billion was offered complimentary vision screenings. He declared that all the surgeries, medications, and eyeglasses people need are being provided at no cost.
The Chief Minister of Delhi has expressed his desire to implement a similar program in his city, indicating his admiration for the effort. He claimed that the Kanti Velugu initiative would benefit the underprivileged in all States, so he planned to roll it out in Delhi and Punjab. He stated that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had been so impressed with Telangana's irrigation sector efforts that he had returned to the State to learn more.
When asked by media about his proposal for a "Progressive Chief Ministers Group" or "G-8," Kejriwal responded. He contacted the heads of State in West Bengal, Bihar, Telangana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, and Punjab with invitations. He elaborated that the forum was created so that the Chief Ministers of the various States could travel with one another and gain new perspectives.
A supper gathering was scheduled for March 18, but it never happened because all of the Chief Ministers had other obligations that night. He said arrangements were still being made for the meeting and that more information would be given once a date was set. He claimed the meeting was still in the planning stages and would only happen after the middle of April.
