Kerala nipah is Bangladeshi with ‘high mortality rate’.
In response to the rise in Nipah infections, State Health Minister Veena George said that the type of the virus seen in Kerala was the Bangladesh variety, which moves from person to person, kills more people, and is less contagious. On Tuesday, the Health Minister revealed that two people who died at a private hospital in Kozhikode on Monday from a Nipah illness.
One adult and one child are still sick and in the hospital. So far, more than 130 people have been tested for the virus. An official from Kerala's health ministry said that people get the virus by coming into close touch with the body fluids of affected bats, pigs, or other people.
Seven village panchayats in Kerala's Kozhikode district have been named containment zones. These are Atanchery, Maruthonkara, Tiruvallur, Kuttiyadi, Kayakkodi, Villyapalli, and Kavilumpara.
The state government said in the assembly on Wednesday that teams from the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune would come in Kerala during the day to set up a mobile lab at Kozhikode Medical College to test for Nipah and survey bats. Here is all the information you need about the virus.
What causes the Nipah virus?
The World Health Organisation (WHO) says that the Nipah virus is spread by fruit bats and could kill both people and animals.

How to Treat
At the moment, there are no drugs or medicines that treat Nipah virus illness directly. But Ribavirin, an antiviral drug, may help people with encephalitis caused by Nipah virus sickness live longer. The main way to treat the infection in people is through intensive supporting care and treatment of symptoms.
