Konda Surekha Issues Fresh Apology to Akkineni Nagarjuna and Family
Telangana Minister and senior Congress leader Konda Surekha has once again publicly apologized to actor Akkineni Nagarjuna and his family, reigniting a controversy that dates back to 2024. The issue began when Surekha, while criticizing BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao, made remarks that were seen as indirectly targeting the Akkineni family. Her comments drew sharp criticism from fans, political observers, and members of the film fraternity, with Nagarjuna reportedly taking serious offense.
Although Surekha had already issued a verbal apology earlier, her decision to repeat it after several months has raised questions about the timing and motive. Political insiders suggest that the renewed apology could be linked to ongoing legal proceedings. Reports indicate that Nagarjuna filed a ₹100 crore defamation suit against her following her earlier comments, while K.T. Rama Rao also pursued legal action. Facing mounting legal challenges, Surekha’s fresh apology is seen as a strategic move aimed at easing the pressure.
In her latest clarification posted on X (formerly Twitter), she wrote: “I would wish to clarify that the statement I had made in relation to @iamnagarjuna Garu was not intended to hurt Nagarjuna Garu or his family members. I regret any unintended impression given in my statements in relation to them and withdraw the same.”
However, the controversy refuses to die down. Fans of actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu have expressed displeasure, claiming Surekha should also apologize to Samantha, who was indirectly affected by her remarks. Many netizens have emphasized that public figures should maintain decorum and avoid personal attacks.
With her renewed statement, Konda Surekha appears to be seeking a legal and public resolution, though the incident continues to stir debate within both political and entertainment circles.
