Liquor Sales Down By 34 Per Cent: AP CM

Reacting to Chandrababu Naidu's claim that the AP government has not brought down liquor sales, CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday said that the state's liquor sales have declined by 34.84 percent.

He said that after coming to power, the YSRCP government has banned over 43,000 belt shops and permit rooms at retail outlets. During Chandrababu Naidu's government, there were 4,380 liquor shops, now reduced to 3,456.

He said that liquor stores have been reduced by over 20 percent so far. “In the 6 months of YSRCP, liquor sales have been considerably down in the state,” the CM further added. YS Jagan slammed Chandrababu Naidu for speaking lies in the assembly.

He added that the state government has formed strict laws to prohibit the illegal transportation of alcohol. De-addiction centers would be set up in the district, he added, and non-bailable cases would be filed against those transporting liquor illegally.

The government’s efforts to implement a liquor ban have shown a positive result.
