Lockdown To Extend Till May 7th In Telangana

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Today, announced an extension of the lockdown period in Telangana till May 7 to have a knowledge the spread of the deadly COVID - 19 in the State, even as many parts of the country prepared to ease the lockdown norms from Monday, a move seen by many as detrimental to the massive efforts to contain the deadly virus.
Chief Minister said, “There is no question of any kind of relaxation in our State. The State Cabinet discussed all the issues including the present status of the virus in the State. It is a very clear and obvious decision based on ground realities.”
After a six-hour Cabinet meeting at Pragathi Bhavan, addressing the media KCR said the same rules that were declared when the first lockdown was implemented would continue to be in force, including curfew in the night and social distancing norms.
We are aware that, Telangana State was among the first to go under lockdown from March 23, a day before PM Narendra Modi announced a nation-wide lockdown. The CM announced the lockdown across the State and ordered sealing of the borders of state on March 22, at the end of the day-long ‘Janata Curfew’ called for by the Narendra Modi.
Coming to the status in the State, KCR said 18 new corona positive cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases in the State to 858. “There have been 21 deaths in Telangana so far, while 186 cases, after undergoing treatment, have been discharged till date. Presently, 651 persons are active cases but none of them is in critical condition,” said KCR.
