Madras High court provides anticipatory bail to Kamal Hassan
The Madras High Court (Madurai Bench) on Monday allowed anticipatory bail to actor and founder of Makkal Needhi Maiam, Kamal Hassan, who dreaded capture for his comments that Mahatma Gandhi's professional killer Nathuram Godse was free India's first Hindu radical. The on-screen character was reserved by the Aravakurichi police on the charges of advancing ill will on the ground of religion.
Equity B. Pugalendhi allowed expectant safeguard with conditions expressing that Mr. Hassan was a leader of enrolled political parties and the election procedure was in progress. The court considered the whole discourse conveyed by Mr. Hassan at an election crusade in Aravakurichi, Karur District.

The Aravakurichi police had booked Mr. Hassan under Sections 153 An (advancing ill will between gatherings on the ground of religion) and 295 An (intentional and malignant act planned to shock religious sentiments of any class by offending its religion and religious convictions) of the Indian Penal Code.
