Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka to lead the main opposition party (CLP) in Telangana
Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday appointed Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka as the leader of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in Telangana.
In a meeting that took place on Thursday, Congress lawmakers from the state passed a resolution, authorizing Rahul Gandhi to appoint a CLP head.
Vikramarka, who has been representing Madhira constituency since 2009, served as the Deputy Speaker of undivided Andhra Pradesh Assembly between 2011 and 2014. He also served as campaign committee chairperson in the recent Assembly election and was the working president of Telangana Congress.
As Congress has 19 MLAs in the 119-member Telangana Assembly, Congress is the main opposition party and Mallu will be the leader of this opposition party.
