Meet Usha Vance: Telugu-Origin Wife of Trump’s Running Mate
Milwaukee: Usha Chilukuri Vance, an Indian-American lawyer, has come into the national spotlight after her husband, JD Vance, was chosen by Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump as his running mate. Usha, 38, could become the first Indian American Second Lady if Trump and Vance win the upcoming election.
Born to Indian immigrants, Usha grew up in a San Diego suburb and is of Telugu origin. She was known as a leader and a bookworm during her childhood. A Yale Law School graduate, she currently works as a civil litigation attorney at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP and has clerked for Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Usha and JD Vance met at Yale Law School and married in 2014. The couple has three children: Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel. Usha, who was once a registered Democrat, expressed reluctance about increased public exposure but supports her husband’s political ambitions. She would be the first Hindu spouse of a Vice President, following second gentleman Doug Emhoff.
