Merge Congress into TRS

Congress MLCs MS Prabhakar Rao, Damodar Reddy, Akula Lalitha and T Santosh Kumar met Telangana State Legislative Council Chairman K Swamy Goud on Friday and submitted a petition seeking the merger of Congress Legislative Party into TRS Legislative Party in the Council.

Shocked by this development, TPCC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy and Telangana Legislative Council leader Shabbir Ali have rushed to meet the Chairman Swamy Goud. Uttam and Shabbir asked the Chairman to take appropriate action against the defected MLCs.

They asked Swamy Goud not to consider the petition of Congress MLCs seeking the merger of Congress Legislative Party in Council into TRS Legislative Party in Council. They said that the petition is invalid as CLP can’t be held without the approval of TPCC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy.

If the petition is approved by the Council Chairman, the strength of Congress Legislative Party in the Council will come down from six MLCs to two.

Talking to the media, Shabbir Ali said that Congress Party is a national party and it has a constitution and guidelines. He also said that just four MLCs cannot represent the party and can’t ask for the merger into TRS Legislature party.
