NTR Belongs to All Telugu People: CM
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy praised legendary actor and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao (NTR) while unveiling his statue at Maitrivanam junction in Hyderabad. Revanth described NTR as one of India’s greatest leaders and compared his influence to national icons like Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He said NTR’s legacy would continue to inspire generations.
Addressing criticism over installing NTR’s statue in Hyderabad because he belonged to Andhra Pradesh, Revanth stated that NTR belonged to all Telugu people, beyond regional, caste, or religious differences. He called the occasion one of the most memorable moments of his life and said he was not afraid of criticism.
The Chief Minister also linked the Congress government’s welfare schemes with the ideals of Indira Gandhi and NTR. He said programmes like Indiramma Indlu, fine rice distribution, and Indiramma sarees were inspired by NTR-era welfare initiatives such as the Rs 2-per-kg rice scheme and Janata Vastra programme.
Revanth further credited NTR for abolishing the patel-patwari system and politically empowering Backward Classes. He added that even former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao began his political journey under NTR’s leadership.
