Naidu Praises Telangana's Growth, Calls for Unity Between Telugu States
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu made a significant statement on Sunday, expressing his political aspirations in Telangana. In a rare gesture, Naidu ended his speech with a resounding "Jai Telangana," commending the young state's achievements over the past decade.
While addressing a party meeting at NTR Bhavan, Naidu highlighted Telangana's impressive progress, noting its leading position in per capita income (PCI) among large states in India. He stated that Telangana's PCI had reached Rs. 3,08,732, surpassing states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. In comparison, Andhra Pradesh's PCI stood at Rs. 2,19,518.
Naidu attributed the PCI disparity between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, 35% post-bifurcation in 2014, to Hyderabad's economic influence. He claimed that the gap had reduced to 27.5% due to the Telugu Desam Party's (TDP) efforts in Andhra Pradesh from 2014 to 2019. However, he criticized the subsequent government's "destructive" governance, which widened the PCI gap to 44%. Naidu warned that the disparity could have reached 100% without proper management.
Emphasizing Telangana's strong foundation, Naidu praised its potential for future growth. He credited the development of HITEC City and the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to the TDP's commitment. However, he acknowledged that the ORR's current form was completed under the YS Rajasekhara Reddy government and further developed by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government.
Naidu expressed satisfaction with his contributions to Hyderabad's development and stressed the importance of unity between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He praised Telangana's new Congress-led government under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for addressing long-standing bifurcation issues.
Highlighting the need for cooperation, Naidu emphasized that unity between the Telugu states would enhance development and resolve issues. He called for respectful dialogue to address the concerns of people from Rayalaseema, Telangana, and Uttarandhra.
Concluding his speech with a call for continued unity and progress, Naidu stated, "Both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are equally important, and I will be at the forefront to protect the interests of the two Telugu States. Though the two governments have different ideologies, discussions should be held and long-pending issues should be resolved in the better interest of both the Telugu States." He ended with, "Jai Hind, Jai Telugu Desam, Jai Telangana."
