Nara Lokesh Highlights Vision for Andhra Pradesh as IT & Electronics Hub
In a strategic move to boost Andhra Pradesh’s growth in the IT and electronics sectors, Minister for IT, Electronics & Communications, Nara Lokesh, met with representatives from the Indian Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) in New Delhi on Monday. The meeting, chaired by ICEA Chairman Pankaj Mohindroo, underscored the State government’s commitment to transforming Andhra Pradesh into a leading hub for technology and electronics.
Lokesh detailed the government’s initiatives aimed at making Andhra Pradesh a preferred destination for ITE&C companies, with policies designed to create a business-friendly environment. He emphasized the importance of ‘speed of doing business’ as a key focus of these efforts. A special task force, comprising renowned industrialists, was formed to overcome policy challenges and remove obstacles, further enhancing the ease of doing business in the State.
The Minister also pointed out the revival of the AP Economic Development Board (EDB) to streamline quick approvals and ensure timely incentives for industrialists. With a vision of making Visakhapatnam a major IT hub and Tirupati a center for electronics manufacturing, the government is paying close attention to emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI). Companies such as Dixon, Daikin, and TCL have already established their operations in the State, with Anantapur and Kurnool districts set to become focal points for automobile, electronics, and electric vehicle industries.
Through these initiatives, Lokesh reiterated the State’s focus on employment generation and sustained industrial growth, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a leader in the IT and electronics sectors.
