OTT Platform Secures Pushpa 2 Rights at Triple the Price of the First Installment?
Pushpa 1: The Rise marked a significant success in icon star Allu Arjun's career, turning him into a pan-India star upon its 2021 release. Now, anticipation surrounds the release of 'Pushpa 2: The Rule,' scheduled for August 15, 2024.
Recent information reveals that Netflix, a leading OTT platform, has acquired the digital streaming rights for 'Pushpa 2: The Rule,' surpassing the price paid for the first part. This OTT deal, reportedly negotiated with Mythri Movie Makers, saw competition from Amazon Prime Video, which eventually withdrew due to the makers' substantial demands for the sequel rights.
While Amazon Prime Video acquired the rights for 'Pushpa 1: The Rise' for Rs 30 crores, Netflix secured the sequel's rights by reportedly paying around Rs 100 crores, three times the previous amount. The high amount reflects the tremendous craze surrounding 'Pushpa 2.'
