Story:
The story centers around Ajay, who marries Anu, his best friend after she proposes to him. However, they applies for divorce a year later, and in court, a stranger tells him exactly what would happen in court. Who is this stranger and how does he know everything, why the couple apply for divorce, and does he end up getting divorced forms the rest of the story.
On-Screen Performances
Vishwak Sen is the scene stealer, who has done very well in the emotional scenes, and he has carried the entire movie adeptly on his shoulders.
Mithila Palkar is the other scene stealer, who does complete justice to her role and brings her character’s emotions quite well throughout the film.
The supporting cast of the film all do well in their roles and it is Venkatesh and Rahul Ramakrishna that make you hoot and cheer whenever they are on screen. Venkatesh is, as always, awesome in his role, and leaves a longing impact in his short role. Rahul Ramakrishna is also good in his role.
Technical Performances:
While not having chosen a completely out of the box concept, the director Ashwath Marimuthu deals with the story that he has penned, in a unique and refreshing way. He tells the story in a non-linear fashion, and has a fantastical segment to assist his story, all of which work in the movie’s favour.
The cinematography of the movie stands out, with every frame looking beautiful and breathtaking. The cinematography of the film is assisted by brilliant BGM and songs, scored by Leon James, which elevate the scenes to a whole new level, especially the emotional sequences.
The production design of the movie is also quite good, with the makers clearly not backing away when necessary. The editing part is also on point.
Positive Points:
Cinematography
Background Music
Lead Cast Performances
Negative Points:
Meera and Ajay’s love track
Too much drama in the second half
Overall Verdict: The film, Ori Devuda is a mildly entertaining romantic film, which has some good comic moments imbibed into it and the film works only in parts and will not appeal to all sections of the fans and audience.
